Knights Serving Our Community

Pancake Breakfast - we hold two pancake breakfasts a year to help raise funds towards vocation candidates we are helping sponsor through the kind donations of our parish community. As of 2011, we have two young men in formation at Sacred Heart Major Seminary (Detroit, MI). Seminarians are expected to pay for their Bachelor in Philosophy. The archdiocese pays for the theology years. One of the main goals of the Knights of Columbus is to support vocations to the priesthood & religious life by both men and women.

Spaghetti Dinners - are another way we raise funds donated by our generous parishioners. The Knights purchase the food and do the cooking. The youth of the parish help serve "family style" (to the table). This gets our confirmation candidates, Boy Scouts or other youth involved by doing community service. In 2010, our first Dinner Theater was a huge success! This was produced in cooperation with the Knights and the Movie and Drama Ministry. The Knights cooked a spaghetti dinner, the youth served and the Movie and Drama Ministry put on a variety show. This resulted in the Activity Center being filled and an enjoyable night by all!

|
Right to Life - another main concern of the KofC is the respect for life (pro-life). Through the proceeds, such as Mother's Day flowers and Christmas cards, every year we donate money to "Right to Life". We present a check to a representative at a Corporate Communion. This is a weekend Mass, where Knights of the council unite. Our Grand Knight presents the check at the end of Mass in front of our parishioners, many of whom bought flowers, or cards.

|
GIFT (Growing In Faith Together) - the Knights of the council volunteer to help various ministries of the parish, including GIFT. At the June, 2010 GIFT, we BBQ'd food for the event on vocations. Another well attended event, with priests, deacons, seminarians and a religious sister. At other events, such as the annual Parish Picnic, the Knights have helped set-up the outside altar for 11am Mass.

|
Faith & Friendship - through the semiannual MI Drive ("Tootise Rolls"), we collect money for the national drive, with part of the proceeds toward our parish "Faith & Friendship" program. Our Knights volunteer to serve dinner and drinks at the annual Christmas Party.

Membership Drives - include our free "Burgers & Beer" get together in the parish hall in August. Burgers BBQ'd by our Grand Knight with all the fixing’s, and a cold beer to top it off! These events allow adult men to come and meet us, ask questions about the Knights and shoot the bull. We also have a membership table set-up at every event, so you can get more information about our council.

Rolling up our sleeves - as Knights, we aren't afraid to get dirty. Knights of our council can volunteer for any event, and help from purchasing food/supplies (reimbursed), cooking, serving, cleaning, and more. We have a good turnout of men at our events, so it allows us to get the job done faster. As a fraternal order, by working together, we get to know each other better. Our parish community is known as a smaller, but friendly parish. The same is true of our Knights of Columbus council. We don't have hundreds of Knights, but what we do have is a good group of guys, willing to help serve, as Jesus has called us to do. Many of our men are active in the parish in other ways, such as: Deacon, EME, Lector, RCIA, EDGE (middle school catechism), Parish Council, Education Commission, Social Committee, Faith & Friendship, and various other groups and ministries. We make a difference!
